UrbanTech Panel - UnBox Day

Multiple co-incident disruptions are pointing to a coming convergence of mobility, urban fabric and energy into an inseparable ecosystem of UrbanTech. By 2050 the portion of world’s population living in cities will reach two thirds at 7 billion, with the highest growth in China, India and sub-Saharan Africa. Urbanization growth is fueled by middle-class creation that increases demand for energy, transportation and mobility. This while pollution and global warming concerns call for clean and affordable energy for vehicles, buildings and industry. Innovations in energy storage, robotics, shared assets and data-driven regulation may lead to cities of the future where mobility, urban fabric and energy will be jointly optimized for more efficient affordable and livable cities.

IMPACT DAY!
When Research Excellence Meets Purposeful Execution

Way back in 2012, a new meme spread: “To run an efficient team, you only need three people: a Hipster, a Hacker, and a Hustler.” That may be right for the Ad Tech industry, but “to make positive global impact, you only need at least three people: a Scientist, a Hustler and a Mentor”, and with that in mind we invited entrepreneurs and investors to meet and speed-date with ten UnBox ‘19 research teams at our first Impact! Day. With about 150 people attending, the stimulating event led to scientists pairing up with entrepreneurs (aka hustlers) and mentors who have become part of the close-knit UnBox family.
